Not too happy with the results of these

I purchased an Ecos reusable K-cup and am just not sure if I am doing it correctly. I used a sumatra blend, ground the beans, put them in the K-cup and well, it was just yuck. Weak, no flavor, tasted dirty really. I tried it again with the same result.

Make your own Keurig Pod?

I am hoping someone can answer or attest to this question..
I saw a article on Ehow and how to make your own K Cups. Apparently you use a 3oz paper cup with wax in it and you flip it over and make a small pin sized hole then you flip it over and place a coffee filter inside of it and cut it to size then you fill it half way with your ground coffee and place a small square of aluminum foil over the cup and wrap it over the edges of the cup, ensuring that it has a tight seal.. I am tempted to try this but am afraid I might mess up my brand new machine. Has anyone tried anything like this? If so what were the results?
I already purchased Ekobrew and the K Caps but I am curious about making my own pods...
